Teatro de actores, teatro de la palabra, el texto como bastión fundamental del impulso que lleva a la acción.

Todo elemento teatral no se esconde ni disimula, se exhibe. Nuestro Otelo transcurre en un teatro, sobre un escenario donde se escenifica un campamento militar. Vemos actores personajes que acaso solo son sombras de alguien que relata.

El juego de ficcionar la no ficción, como espejos enfrentados que se repiten infinitamente.

Intentamos aquí exhibir las fisuras e inconsistencia del paradigma de lo masculino y lo femenino, despojándonos de armaduras que terca, torpe e infructuosamente, insistimos en vestir.

Qué es ser un hombre? Cómo debe ser una mujer? Por qué sostener en 2023 un modelo que ya en 1603 Willam Shakespeare nos mostraba obsoleto?

Volver a La Comedia de la Provincia de Buenos Aires es volver a ese espacio íntimo que te invita al disfrute del reencuentro, la memoria y la creación.

Que sea con esta versión de Otelo, que nos interpela en épocas de deconstrucción es para celebrar.

La vida de un actor está teñida por distintas historias y personajes. Esta vez, la aguda y sensible mirada de Shakespeare, me permite revisar mi propia genealogía y vivir un espacio-tiempo complejamente amoroso y desgraciadamente violento.

Volví a casa, a éste teatro y me encontré con aquel joven que empezó hace mucho tiempo el camino de la búsqueda, la poética y la creación.

No tengo más que gratitud para con el director de la obra, mis colegas, los técnicos y la Dirección del Teatro de La Comedia, por permitirme abrir estas puertas y entrar nuevamente a escena.

OTELO es sin dudas uno de los clásicos más importantes del teatro universal. Este proyecto da inicio al Programa de Producciones Integrales 2023 de la Comedia de la Provincia de Bs. As. Una obra fundamental escrita en 1603 y representada, según diversas fuentes por primera vez en 1604 en Londres, aunque su publicación data de 1622.

Adaptada, reversionada y representada en todos los escenarios del mundo, en todos los idiomas tanto en su versión teatral, cinematográfica y musical, esta propuesta apunta a visibilizar las conductas que conducen a la sinrazón y a las decisiones más drásticas que el hombre como animal pensante puede tomar.

La obra que en su versión original transcurre en Venecia y en la isla de Chipre, se adapta en espacio y en tiempo para dar paso a atacar directamente el conflicto que es tan actual como el terreno donde se desarrolla.

El poder, el amor desmesurado, el sujeto como posesión, el artilugio del engaño, la locura y el femicidio sobrevuelan constantemente esta tragedia donde nadie es tan inocente como parece, ni algunos, tan ingenuos como pretenden ser.

En Otelo ninguno de los protagonistas intuye su destino, pero inexorablemente todos son cómplices de una violencia latente que va creciendo como una bola arrojada al vacío en un terreno nevado.

¿Qué se puede esperar de una atmósfera plagada de egos, envidias, inseguridades, recelos, ambiciones, donde un semejante, cual cartero que entrega “ingenuamente” sus misivas, va tejiendo un sinfín de consejos que provoca la ceguera de la razón para intentar beneficiarse y para dejar expuesto a los demás al desorden de sus emociones?

El Otelo de ayer, es el Otelo de hoy en cada lugar donde habite la especie humana.

Si miras hoy a tu alrededor probablemente, muy cerca, habrá un Yago que te murmure al oído y si no puedes o no eres capaz de descifrar sus intenciones todo se transformará en amenaza, violencia y destrucción.
