El próximo 17 de octubre a las 18:30hs se realizará la presentación de Por ser mujer, la biografía de Vlasta Lah de Candela Vey y Martín Miguel Pereira en el ciclo La Nave de los sueños de la Biblioteca Nacional, Agüero 2502, con entrada libre y gratuita. Esta es la primera de una serie de presentaciones que tendrá este flamante lanzamiento de Ediciones Del Camino.
Vlasta Lah fue la primera mujer en dirigir un largometraje sonoro en Argentina en 1960, y fue durante mucho tiempo una figura olvidada del cine argentino, apenas nombrada en algunos libros en las últimas décadas y completamente borrada de las historias del cine nacional hasta entrado el siglo XXI.
A pesar de haber sido la asistente de dirección más importante de los Estudios San Miguel, tardó quince años en poder dirigir su primer largometraje, Las furias y con su segundo film, Las modelos, en 1963, se cierra misteriosamente una carrera que no llegó a ser tal.
Nacida un año antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial en el Imperio austrohúngaro, luego nacionalizada italiana, se formó como directora en el Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia de Roma, una de las escuelas de cine más importantes del mundo, para luego emigrar a la Argentina cuando la Segunda Guerra Mundial estaba en el horizonte.
Candela Vey y Martín Miguel Pereira se propusieron reconstruir su biografía de modo exhaustivo y meticuloso para rescatarla del olvido y darle el lugar que merece dentro de la historia del cine nacional y mundial. A partir de un extenso intercambio epistolar con su hermana hoy podemos conocer la voz de Vlasta, sus sueños, sus miedos e inquietudes y su pasión por el cine. Con el relevo de una enorme cantidad de documentos y otras fuentes, ese mundo privado se conjugará con lo público, su trabajo.
Esta apasionada biografía tiene como relato fílmico una película en proceso. En 2022, los autores presentaron en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata el work in progress de la película Vlasta, el recuerdo no es eterno, que ambos dirigen y que planean presentar en 2024.
Sin dudas Vlasta Lah es una pionera que merece un lugar destacado en la historia del cine nacional.
