A 30 años de su estreno, y en el marco del ciclo Homenajes en el Gaumont, se realizará una función especial de la película Tango feroz: la leyenda de Tanguito el lunes 26 de junio, a las 19:30 horas, con entrada gratuita. La proyección contará con la presencia de su director, Marcelo Piñeyro, y de parte del elenco. Por Nito Marsiglio.
La película –ópera prima de Piñeyro, basada en un guion suyo y de Aída Bortnik–, propone una reescritura de la historia de José Alberto Iglesias, conocido en el ámbito del rock local como “Tanguito” (Fernán Mirás), quien formó parte del grupo de músicos y compositores que dieron nacimiento al rock argentino a finales de los años 1960. La historia se desliza por algunos sucesos relevantes de la vida del cantautor, oriundo de Caseros, como la relación con Mauricio “Moris” Birabent (interpretado por su hijo Antonio Birabent), su vínculo con Mariana (Cecilia Dopazo), su musa y amante, su paso por el Hospital Borda y su trágico final.
Estrenada el 3 de junio de 1993, Tango feroz: la leyenda de Tanguito abrió una nueva época para la filmografía argentina, con producciones estilo biopics o específicamente dirigidas a un público adolescente. A pocos días de su lanzamiento, la película de Piñeyro se convirtió en un éxito de taquilla con alrededor de 1.500.000 espectadores, alcanzando el 7,6% del total de las entradas vendidas en Argentina ese año.
El elenco se completa con las actuaciones de Héctor y Ernesto Alterio, Imanol Arias, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Cristina Banegas, Federico D´Elía, Damián De Santo y David Masajnik.
